Step 2: Inspection and Water Damage Assessment

Our Water Damage Restoration Process

Our SERVPRO Water Damage Restoration Process

After the initial call is when our scheduler will create an appointment that works around the client to ensure we are being as convenient as possible. During this stage, a Water Damage IICRC Certified project management team will visit the property to scope out the damage

What Our Project Manager is Looking For:

  • Source of Moisture: The source needs to be stopped before any of our restoration efforts can begin.
    • Goals: Stop the Source
  • Identify the Type of Water: We will identify the category and classification of the water to ensure our team can provide the deepest cleaning. Based on these categories each of which requires a different course of action to be completed.
    • Category 1: “Clean Water”
    • Category 2: “ Gray Water”
    • Category 3: “Black Water”
  • Surveying the Damage Caused By Water: To ensure our team is prepared we need to measure the overall saturation of the material. The more porous the material the more moisture it can absorb. Knowing this information can ensure we are providing the most optimal drying times. These are two things are team will look for are:
    • Survey Damage
    • Complete Safety Inspection
  • Move or Block Furniture: When you find yourself with standing water we will suggest moving furniture to a different area of the home. Moisture can affect materials differently so getting it away from affected areas is critical.

Identify and Stop the Water Source

We will check for the source of moisture in your home or business. The source must be stopped before any restoration or drying of the building can be successful.

  • Stop the Source
  • Check for Contaminated Water

Identify the Type of Water

  • Category 2: "Gray Water"
  • Category 3: "Black Water"

Survey the Extent of the Water Damage and Inspect the Premises

  • Survey Damage
  • Complete Safety Inspection
